BEAUTY SPOT - Llyn Brianne

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Another close-by outstanding place to visit on your glamping holiday with some must-capture photo-scavenger spots. 'Llyn Brianne' provides increasingly rare opportunities to be lakeside, without sound or light pollution. Less than 20 miles south-east of our site, the route alone has many places to stop and take in the ever-changing topography, with some landscapes so beautifully unique to the area, you will find this drive super interesting and at times of another planet! The journey alone has to be one of the most interesting routes to drive in the UK.

The attraction itself is based around the reservoir & dam with a choice of walks, hikes, picnic stops and stunning views for great pictures! The red telephone box on the mountain, seemingly in the middle of nowhere is also a particularly famous notable stop along the Tregaron-Abergwesyn mountain road on the way to Llyn Brianne from Pentref.

The dam was built between the 60's - 70's and is the UK’s tallest, standing at 300ft (91m). The location and surrounding area's stunning scenery make for interesting dog walks & hikes as well as mountain biking & nature-spotting.

This is a place that is well worth a visit no matter the weather. When we have visited with fewer bright skies, the moodiness brings a whole new quality to this area of beauty! There are multiple car parks to choose from (all free of charge), which all start different walking routes and expose different views. The main car park has views of the dam itself (not pictured here), often has a lovely mobile coffee stand and sometimes other refreshments too. At the top car park, there are toilets with disability facilities.

Driving back it is a treat to see the landscape from one final angle, before the westerly views of the other-worldly landscape of the mountain road home.

Let us know if you've been or are planning to go during your stay, we would love to see your photos! :)
